Introducing Minu Viljandi (My Viljandi) — a mesmerizing collage animation that encapsulates the essence of the culturally-rich city of Viljandi, Estonia, and the experiences of studying at the Tallinn University Viljandi Culture Academy (TU VKA).
As an artist and student, I wanted to showcase my unique perspective of the city by piecing together my fondest memories in small, yet powerful fragments. Viljandi is a picturesque city nestled in the heart of Estonia, renowned for its rich history, diverse cultural offerings, and stunning natural landscapes. Its cobbled streets, ancient castle ruins, and vibrant festivals have inspired artists and creatives for generations
The animation features several iconic buildings, including:
* Peamaja TU VKA (Main Building of Viljandi Culture Academy) - the main academic building of the university, where lectures and classes are held.
* Vilmamaja TU VKA (Vilma Building of Viljandi Culture Academy) - a residential building for students of the university.
* Music house TU VKA (Music House of Viljandi Culture Academy) - a building dedicated to music education and practice.
* Dormitory TU VKA (Dormitory of Viljandi Culture Academy) - another residential building for students of the university.
* Café Kohvik - a cozy place for students to relax, socialize, and enjoy refreshments.
* Viljandi city library - a public library that offers access to a wide range of books and other materials.
* WIMKA (Culture Club and Chamber of Good Ideas) - a cultural club that hosts various events and activities, promoting art and creativity.
* Bar Romaan - a bar that offers a cozy atmosphere for students to socialize and enjoy drinks.
* Other living houses - residential buildings in the area that I have passed through during my time in Viljandi.
The collage technique allows me to cut and combine these fragments into a stunning visual tapestry that captures the essence of the city.
