This project is called Life on Mars. As we all know there is no life on Mars, which makes photoshop a great tool to give Mars some life. In this project our objective was to put a plethora of pictures together to make it seem like Mars had some life to it. I started with the astronaut on the motorcycle to be the main attraction on my project with him kicking up some dust on his motorcycle. I then added a dome that was supposed to look like his home on Mars. I then added a moon in the background and added a rocket ship in the sky to look like people were constantly traveling to and from Mars. For this assignment I did all of the editing in Photoshop and used various tools to achieve this outcome. I used eraser, polygon lasso, brush, select and mask, and messed around with the transparency of the moon and rocket ship to get that look like they are hidden behind clouds or fog. The hardest part of the assignment was getting the drop shadows for both the dome and astronaut to look realistic and go along with the shadows of the mountains. After finishing up all the little details, I put a slogan on top of the picture and labeled it Mars 1 to give it a postcard look. This was by far one of the tougher assignments that I had done.
These are the thumbnails from this project that I had came up with trying to get a grasp on what I wanted this project to look like. All of them included an astronaut because I had my mind set on having one in my project, but I could not quite get the angle and layout of all the other objects that I wanted to add to it. Once I got into photoshop everything fell together and what I was left with was Life on Mars.
