An interesting opportunity working as volunteer architect on site, with the organization POP-Up Housing NGO. In collaboration with Hasiru Dala, this project involved building a structure to be used as a rest space, and prototyping basic furniture frames, for a community of waste pickers and workers at their Solid Waste Management Center. A zero-waste construction system was adopted. Working directly with the local skilled workers, recycled slotted metal channels and compressed boards made from recycled plastic were the materials worked with.
This engagement furthered interest in architecture in the social sector, as well as an exploration into building materials.
