BRIEF:
For the first assignment we were required to create scale 1:1 replica of our selected shoe of choice particularly out Triplex cardboard but in 3 different contexts. The first being the full shoe, the second being the section view shoe and the last being the shoe mould. All accuracy of details such as laces, sole patterns, vent holes etc. had to be achieved as best as possible. The purpose of this project is to introduce us to making prototypes of objects using cardboard and considering scale of the prototype in comparison to the life-size design.
REFERENCE SHOE:

TASK 1- FULL SHOE
For the first model we were required to create scale 1:1 replica of our selected shoe of choice which in my case is the Nike Air Force 1.
TASK 2- SECTION
For the second assignment, we were asked a to create a sectional view of the shoe straight down in the middle and imagine what the inside of the shoe would look like.
TASK 3- MOULD
For the third phase of the project we are required to make mould imprint of the shoe as though we were to pour liquid material into it and it manufactures into a half view from the previous task. I would say I partially enjoyed this task because I had now made myself familiar with the materials, as well as the details of the shoe. The tricky part was having to think "in the opposite" as I was basically making the shoe "inside out". My first prototype had to change due to my section model not fitting in, which was one of the requirements.
REFLECTION:
This project was off to a harsh start as it was my first time making prototypes of something as complex as a shoe. The close attention to detail is what got to me because it showed me how much time had to go into it, which was something I struggled with. The most difficult one for me was the section model because making it was definitely not as smooth as I thought it would be. This project has however taught me the importance of scale and attention you have to pay to detail.
