Brief:
We have been tasked to replicate a shoe of our choice with it being a 1:1 scale of chosen shoe. We will have to make 3 different models.
1: a 1:1 replica of the shoe.
2: a 1:1 half section of the shoe.
3: a 1:1 half mold of the shoe.
The task is been set in a way to help us grow our understanding of form, shape and detail. As we progress in this project we will attain new skills and a new eye for design. We will learn new ways in creating form by bending the triplex in different ways under new circumstances. We are only allowed to use glue and triplex, nothing else.

The Process:
The process was a lot more difficult than expected. Time management is very important in this project. Cutting slits in the triplex allowed it to bend easier as well as with a damp cloth made it easier to shape. For thickness on the shoe, gluing many layers together then sanding down the object gave a good finished look. The most time consuming part of the shoes were the soles.
Task 1 - Full Shoe:
In this phase of the project we had to make an identical replica of our original shoe. We needed to replicate our shoes form with triplex which was not as easy as you would think. We needed to replicate every little such as the stitching on a shoe. Triplex is not an easy material is bend cause it may create creases. This forced us to find new ways of creating form with triplex. Using a wet cloth allows you to bend the triplex as if it was paper. Form was the main focus when trying to replicate the shoe.

Task 2 - Section:
In this phase just like the last phase we had to create a replica model of a shoe however in this phase we will have to section the shoe and show all the detail on the inside of the shoe as well. Detail is more important in this phase since we have to show all the inside detail as well. This seems to be easier than the first Triplex model although it is in fact more difficult.

Task 3 - Mould:
In phase 3 we were tasked to make a box in which a mould of your shoe would fit in. This is similar to making a mould of half a shoe that you could poor a liquid in that would obtain the mould of half a shoe. This phase required us to inverse everything we saw in the first and second mould so that it would create the mould. All the detail is reversed as well such as the detail of the sole.

Reflection:
Creating 1:1 scale shoes and moulds from triplex was a unique project that pushed our boundaries in design. It required a blend of precision and patience, with a reminder that embracing unconventional materials can lead to new creative horizons. Overall triplex is a good material that we can use in the future for prototyping mock-ups.
