BRIEF
We were tasked with creating accurate three dimensional models representing a shoe of our choosing. Making use of triplex cardboard, these models needed to be done using a 1:1 scale. The shoe needed to be a sneaker or a shoe of similar complexity, no slops or similarly basic shoes were allowed. The purpose of this project is to develop the ability to utilise physical dimensions of an existing product.

TASK 1 - FULL SHOE
Using our chosen shoe item, we were required to make a replica of the item only using triplex cardboard. This was very intimidating for me because I had never used triplex before, let alone make a 1:1 scaled replica of a shoe. We had to pay close attention to details such as fabric split lines, vent holes, laces, buttons, material thickness, etc. The purpose of this was to develop the ability of using physical dimensions and to develop our observation and with working with cardboard or paper media skills .
TASK 2 - SECTION
We needed to create a section through our chosen shoe in order to see the interior details that cannot necessarily be seen just by looking at the shoe as a whole. I found this more challenging than the first brief. I struggled with getting the proportions accurate and the curvature of the shoe while still trying to pay attention to all the details both on the outside and interior.
TASK 3 - MOULD
We needed to demonstrate an imprint of our shoe in a specified tooling block; create a mould of our shoe as though it has been pushed into clay and taken back out. Although I found this brief easier than the second brief, this was a bit challenging as I had to think about how to make the opposite half image as a mirror imprint.
PROJECT REFLECTION
Using our chosen shoe item, we were required to make a replica of the item only using triplex cardboard. This was very intimidating for me because I had never used triplex before, let alone make a 1:1 scaled replica of a shoe. I struggled with getting the proportions accurate and the curvature of the shoe while still trying to pay attention to all the details. None the less, I enjoyed learning how to manipulate triplex cardboard.
