Lawn Animals Font Design
I was given the assignment to create a font, and I decided that I wanted to use one of my favorite fonts, League Gothic, as a starting point. Using line art as an inspiration, I modified the letters and added the same three elements to each letter: a series of three lines, a single line, and a dot.

The lyric from the second poster is actually what really moved the project forward. After deciding that I wanted to create the fonts using lines, I looked for a lyric / quote involving lines. I settled on a Chance the Rapper line from a Childish Gambino song, specifically, "Eddy Scissorhands is working on my lining." Because of the Edward Scissorhands reference, I thought of topiary. So the combination of rap and topiary is where this project went.
Alphabet Poster
The color scheme for this alphabet poster was heavily inspired by topiary, particularly the bright green, which is the color around which I built the rest of the scheme. I also added rap ad-libs throughout the poster to add a fun element that helped tie the two themes together. I also created an scissors icon, which was inspired by the name Lawn Animals, and has the same elements as the letters.

Extraordinary Fox Postcard
In addition to the first two posters, I wanted to make something that pointed back to the inspiration font, League Gothic, and also to the League of Movable Type, the creators of League Gothic. For these other two pieces, a postcard and a poster, I was inspired by retro postcards and topiary.
