The project is based on the idea of a cultural centre as a space capable of hosting multiple activities or scenes of community life as well as a generator of new social interactions that enhances the cultural phenomena and preset notions from the given context.
The building uses simple architectural elements such as furniture walls, space-defining doors, high inclined roofs together with traditional ecological Peruvian fog collectors in order to be assemble two fundamental architectural spaces defined in the project as sub-modules: porch and room. The porch as a permanently open space to the community hosts the most public activities while the room contains the most intimate and private
activities. These two sub-modules, can be arranged in a great variety of clusters according to the needs, desires and decisions of the community.
Ideally this modular, adaptable, versatile, customizable and flexible system can be replicated throughout the territory of Nueva Jerusalem, adapting and mutating to the unique conditions of any particular site.
