Project 2 - Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

Project 2 - ART235 - BYU-I
For this project we got to chose a classic novel for which to create three different book covers.  Since my last name is Hyde and my husband and I dressed up like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for Halloween one year, I felt this was a good one for me to do.  (If you're wondering, I dressed up like a doctor and my husband went as himself.)
Typography
I feel this one really demonstrates the differences between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Handmade Materials
This was created using cut out silhouettes of the two names.  I then backlit them and photographed them to achieve the shadow.  Later I opened them in Photoshop and copied the shadow of Mr. Hyde and pasted it onto the shadow area of Dr. Jekyll.  It shows how Mr. Hyde is a part of Dr. Jekyll, a rather shady part.  This makes it a good representation of the theme of the book.
Designer's Choice
I feel this is the ultimate representation of the story.  It was set in Victorian times when those who could, would have a silhouette very much like this one framed and hanging on their wall.  With Mr. Hyde reflected in it, you get the sense of two individuals in one.
