As the difficulty of the Challenge Rifts

Groups are able to D2R Items take on Challenge Rifts up to the highest level for any group member, which means there's nothing stopping the player from moving to a greater difficulty if any of their friends has already made it this far. Beware, however, because lower-level players might not be prepared for the risks they'll encounter.
Challenge Rifts monitor the progress of the players who attempt them. They rank one single player to every other solo player, or a four-person team to each other four-person group, and all the way up to. With a party, there's always a team to fall back on in the event that the player gets dead or the idea is disastrously wrong. In a solo game, there's just you and an army of ravenous monsters. There's no serious penalty for dying within the Challenge Rift, but it's wasted time at best. The more a player can be able to do to cheap D2R Ladder Items maintain their life, the more successful.
