Love versus Hate
This is a design project inspired by the "Replace The Hate" movement. The idea behind the movement is to replace hateful things with beauty, love, and creativity. It is meant to use design in a powerful way to evoke thoughtfulness amongst the viewers. For my particular design, I created a "Love Versus Hate" logo. I created several different color palettes for the logo as well as creating mockups on a billboard and on a pillow.
For color schemes, I created a black and white version in Illustrator, as well as five different color variations. I kept the word "hate" black throughout the majority of the variations to capitalize on its harshness, and I also made the text more jagged and rough for the same reason. I picked color schemes that were lighthearted and joyful to encapsulate the importance of love and the good feelings that come with positivity.
At the start of the project, I created two different designs to capture the message behind the movement. Ultimately, I decided that the "Love > Hate" design was the strongest of the two. The design speaks for itself, even if you know nothing about the movement.
