Entry for 2014 Show Us Your Type online exhibition that showcases posters for a specific cities. This one in particular was the island of Ithaca, Greece. I chose to position the letters of the word in a stacked manner as though they were the building blocks of one of the iconic white villas that dot the cliffs of the island. To further this idea a stone-like texture was added and the letters were made to look as though they may be crumbling (a reference to the historical nature of this destination). Vector illustrations of crocus flowers bloom from the letters – this common greek flower can be found on the island and adds a contrast of delicate beauty to the rough letterforms.
