A Study of the 6 Creative Strategies
For this project I made 6 different compositions of the 6 creative strategies using a light bulb. The 6 different creative strategies are combination, isolation, metaphor/simile, change of context/environment, physical shape similarity, and material change/swap/or focus. Theses were all created using adobe Photoshop. I hope you enjoy!
1. Combinations: This was made combining a light bulb with the moon. The idea came to me since they both emit light, and they could easily be combined since a light bulb has a circular shape. Would be a pretty cool night light if I do say so myself.
2. Isolation: This image was made using a pattern of light bulbs, with only one that is shining. The lit light bulb is contrasted against the other unlit light bulbs creating isolation. This light bulb isn't scared of what people think of him, he's gonna SHINE.
3. Metaphor/simile: This one is communicating the idea that light bulbs are associated with having ideas, and being smart. So I made the light bulb as someones head to show that they are a smarty-pants.
4. Change of context/environment: In this image I combined a fish bowl with a light bulb. One thing you don't want to mix is water and electricity, which is why this is a total change of environment for that little fishy.
5. Physical shape similarity: The shape of a light bulb and a balloon are similar, so I thought I'd combine them! How cool would it be if your balloon could glow?
6. Material change, swap, or focus: This image switches out the shiny, glass surface of a light bulb with a meaty, juicy one. Hopefully there isn't any glass in there still, because it looks tasty.
