Recently I was invited to pitch a fun poster design to highlight the 2015 Newcastle Challenge cycling event. Riders from around NSW are encouraged to prove themselves by taking on the intense 160km Sydney to Newcastle route in just one day.

Utilising an isolated segment from the Bicycle Network logo, I built the layout around the wheels as location markers for both origin & destination. The bicycle & rider were hand sketched then digitised to create a simple yet crisp, straight edged illustration.

The colour palette was intentionally kept to as few hues as possible, while ample negative space was implemented for maximum ease of reading. The overall look & feel was designed to excite, intrigue & entice cycling enthusiasts in competing in this great one day event.
