This illustration was intended to show the decline in Detroit's population by the lack of motor vehicles and people who are visible in the image. Instead of a bustling city sidewalk, we see only a single person walking past closed up shops.
Since this was created sweeping changes have taken place within the city of Detroit. Many abandoned buildings have been completely remodeled, new business have settled in the city, and a new arena has spurred even further urban development. The city of Detroit is returning to life.
