Musei Nazionali di Genova Visual identity 2022
The brand Musei Nazionali di Genova was created to promote the art collection, heritage and events of Palazzo Reale, Palazzo Spinola and Galleria Nazionale della Liguria, to be recognised and ensure that the common nature of the three museums is brought to life through a visual system. The collection includes frescoes, stuccoes, paintings and sculptures of the 16-18th centuries, in part made by the masters coming from or having worked in the Republic of Genoa. In the pictorial field, we identify compositions based on diagonal line schemes, vibrant colors and exaggerated shapes, characterized by intensity, drama, detail, contrast and movement. These elements inspired the design reinterpreted to the 21st century to create an elegant and timeless visual identity able to represent the entire historical experience of the museums. The logo uses a modern typographic style with a historical reference — the serif Epicene Text, from Klim type foundry, a Baroque typeface inspired by the work of two 18th century maestros: J-F. Rosart and J.M. Fleischmann. The exagerated details enfatizes the drama of the compositions in an elegant yet strong manner reinforced by the sumptuous italics.
