My Gundam self project
I created this piece mostly with adobe illustrator, but added the effects using photoshop
I really wanted to make a Gundam piece in my style and this is what I came with!
The Process
I was practicing with inks at first, and decided to sketch the head of RX-78
Next Step
I went into illustrator and composed just the head of Gundam
I was experimenting with different patterns and started off using a grained brush for the shadows within the helmet but to make it pop I wanted to add a halftone effect. I also had wanted to add a stroke to give an extra flair.
Final Image
I was looking at Fan art of Gundam to really make sure I got the helmet right and then I stumbled upon this image that really made me want to challenge myself more and add a little bit more details
I loved the speckles added to this image and also how it incorporated a lot of the chest area, I also loved swords coming out of the square, and this gave me a final basis of what I wanted my image to look like. I just wanted to add the extra halftone effect and the stroke to make it look kind of cartoony
