The concept for this shoot came from an old ring that was owned by a late loved one. I was inspired to capture it like a new product, and how it could be used in modern times. Thus came the idea for heirloom jewellery. Rings often get passed on from mothers to daughters, being exchanged at weddings and engagements. They hold immense sentimental value. How would a decades old ring be shot, sold and used in 2022?

The use of white has many meanings across cultures. It is a colour used at Christian weddings since the Victorian era. But it is also an auspicious colour in Hinduism. The purity of white also means that it is worn at funerals. Thus, white is the perfect colour for heirloom jewellery. During the shoot, white flowers were used to show the transition from the old to the new, as well as the celebration of a new stage of life.
