Cultural center with concert hall in Lviv, Ukraine

The main idea of the project of the cultural center with concert hall for 180 seats in Vynnyky of Lviv City Territorial Community was to create a new center for cultural development of young residents of the town. Implementation of this project will provide local children’s and youth art workshops an opportunity to unite and work more effectively, as they will have better conditions for development, will be able to increase the number of visitors and residents of the town will no longer need to go to the regional center Lviv to embody their creative ideas.
The relief difference on the site is significant and it was used both for the master plan and building solutions. Landscaping is arranged on four terraces of irregular shape using of sharp corners. The highest terrace is located at the entrance to the building of the cultural center and serves as representative area. The second, third and fourth terraces have a recreational function and are intended for relaxation and refreshment of visitors. The terraces are connected by stairs and ramps.
At the lowest point of the design site within the red lines there is an existing open parking lot. It is offered to be kept at the same place. Above the parking lot continues the lowest (fourth) of the cascading terraces. Exit from the parking lot is on the covered stairs to the third terrace.
Landscaping is performed in the technique of geoplastics and maintains the shape of the terraces in the plan. Large lawns with artificially formed height difference are formed. They are planted in a concrete base, which turns into benches with wooden seats.
The building is divided by function into four levels vertically. It was decided to divide the planning structure into the following functions: cultural and entertainment with concert hall, educational and creative with classrooms and rehearsal hall, co-working with a cafe and administration with exhibition space. Their division is based on the noise level and the number of visitors at the same time. On the first level the loudest function (concert hall) is located, while on the fourth is the quietest (administration and exhibition).
