ONE WITH NATURE - bamboo pavilion
World Bamboo Workshop Entry
Competition entry.
Design partners: Najwa Ali Nizam - Rahaf Nasser.
My role: participate in the design process - Visualization and renderings.
Connection with nature and its serenity, peace, views and feelings. We thought of these main topics while designing the pavilion. We achieved them with our devised plan, generation points, from and 3D volumes.
For this competition we were asked to design a contemporary pavilion, one with
global appeal, and not one of any particular culture or geography.  On site in Thanh Tam EcoPark, Vietnam
We separated our pavilion into three segments:
First segment: We focused on establishing a strong connection with nature. To achieve that, we wrapped this segment around a curve which we formed around the tress in the forest. We also added some vines and plants which hold onto the bamboo frame.
Second segment: To help the users feel more comfortable, we designed an intimate shell form. We added vertical bamboo trunks tilting slightly sideways allowing cool breeze to enter the pavilion.
Third segment: We worked on completing the whole visual form, by adding horizontal cladding panels contrasting the vertical lines of the adjacent segment.
Lastly, to add a sense of drama for users from the point they enter the forest until they reach our goal -the pavilion-, we formed the entire pavilion around the users’ path.
Furthermore, we made another entrance by combining the two axis with the adjacent platform.
In our design, we want to create an interesting experience where the users can live and feel one with nature.
