I attended the Kate Spade event!! I totally forgot to update you all on this amazing event I attended back in November! This event was for VCDMA fashion majors and minors who have been attending the tapestry talks hosted by Kate Spade, and in honor of finishing our last tapestry talk for the fall semester we were all invited to the outlet store at Tanger Outlets in Oxon Hill to celebrate!! 

 

The attire was inspired by the pillars of Kate Space Brand which included polka dots, glitter, stripes and color! I was solo this time but I did ended up meeting other fashion design majors who were super friendly! The overall night was fun and filled with good music and food and I really enjoyed myself. There was even a panel discussion about the many things we as African Americans faced in the fashion industry, mental health, putting yourself out there, balancing work and life, etc. 

 

The only thing I wished is that I put myself out there more, I was more on the shy side when it came to a big event like this. Thanks to my Fashion History Professor who helped me get a seat on the bus for this event! Without her I would’ve not been able to go. At the end of the event we were all gifted with bags that were filled it notebooks, pens, cardholder and key chains. We were also presented the opportunity to shop with a student discount! I managed to purchase a beautiful bracelet that was initially on sale and plus the student discount brought it down to a good price! I didn’t get a lot of photos, only me holding a champagne flute filled with sparking cider. But I enjoyed my night! I hope you enjoyed reading this!!
