About me:

My Name is Jagteswar Gill, but I prefer to go by Jonty. I am enrolled in the Graphic Design Program at Humber and this is my second year of post secondary.

The biggest reason for why I chose the Graphic Design program at Humber is because of my passion for Art, Design, and I just love being creative. This was also coupled with some poor circumstances within highschool, which prevented me from being able to create an adequate portfolio of the Architectural Science Program at Toronto Metropolitan University. As such I fell back on my passion of Design and Chose to go to humber to persue it. So it can be said that my failure at that time was a blessing in disguise.

My personal and professional goals are quite in line with one another. The broad goals are to be able to run a sucessful design business, be it within logo design, branding, signage, poster design, ect. I also want to become more well versed in 3-D graphics, Traditional Art, and Digital Painting.

Finally a Fun Fact about myself, is that I participated in a large esports tournament in 2021.
Here are some Art Pieces that Ive made in my spare time
Typography 2 - Assginments
Assignment 1 - Typographic Poster

This assignment was to create a movie poster based on a book of our choosing form teh gutenburg project. I chose to do Robin Hood and began the process with some sketches of the possible ways I wanted to present the poster
Moving on from the sketches I created a moodboard to help me pick out colours, symbols, and characteristics of art during that time period.
Next came the digital renditions.
After the Digital Roughs were created and the feedback session was done I moved onto making the final Poster.
The Biggest thing I learned from this project was how to be intentional with my designs and not over design or overcomplicate the piece.
Assignment 2 - Typographic Book Specimen
For the second assignment we were tasked with continuing the process of creating media based on the book of our choosing, and in this instance we had to create a booklet to help learn the skills of typesetting, justification, formatting, ect.
The Sketches used in the poster assignment were used to gain inspiration for the design of the bookelt aswell
Afterward I made a front and back cover for the booklet, using the poster as a base and working off of it to keep consistancy bewteen the projects
After the assignment I made some mockups to display how the book would look with my cover design.
