Hospitality Design - Hotel Capitol
Project Brief
To Design Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Bulan, Off, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.
Problem Statement
Malaysia's economy is increasing as it becomes more industrialised, but transportation and industry are causing more pollution in the air. Other events in Asia show that urban air pollution is getting serious and leading to increasing health issues for people. For Malaysia to become a modern, sustainably run, industrialised nation, it needs an up-to-date, all-encompassing environmental policy that includes managing air pollution. Hotel Capitol is located in the middle of Bukit Bintang. It is surrounded by city buildings and skyscrapers, in addition to the busy and heavy traffics causing serious air pollution in the area. I chose to design an eco-friendly hotel to solve the problem. At the same time, the plantation makes you feel calm and relaxed, lowering your anxiety level.
Concept Statement - Eco-Conscious
In the heart of Bukit Bintang, Hotel Capitol is situated. It is surrounded by city buildings, skyscrapers, and heavy traffic, all of which contribute to severe air pollution in the area. My concept is eco-consciousness; the three most important keywords are curve, spline, and rhythm. ‘Curve’ represents the smoke rising as long as it is warmer than the surrounding air, as well as the curving growth of the plantation. ‘Spline’ represents the growth of branches and roots. ‘Rhythm’ represents the daily and evening differences in plant growth.
