For this project, I wanted to create a deer that would hang on my wall that I could then hang hats on. I got this idea from my uncle who has deer mounted in his garage that he will hang his hats on and I wanted to try to make a replica of my own out of wood. In this project, I wanted to use completely salvaged wood from the wood shop. This was definitely the most difficult woodshop piece I have done because of the salvaged wood and all I could find were small parts and I had to literally build a puzzle to put together into a deer. Pictured below.
I first began by drawing out the outline of the deer that I wanted and cut shapes into the "puzzle pieces". These were all made from smaller or already used pieces of wood that I had to reshape into a desired size and shape. I first mad the outline of the deer and 3D head, then moved to the antlers. I wanted the antlers to be 3D so I could hang multiple hats on the without needing them to be all on top of each other. I then pieced all of the pieces together into the deer and spray painted it.
At the very end of the Hackathon, the right antler fell off and made the project a little funky (hence the name). I decided to roll with it and now this deer is Elliot from open season.
