I made this using Cinema 4D in 2018. I don't really recall, but I believe it was rendered with C4D's Physical renderer, using C4D's standard materials.

Like trains, ferris wheels are fun to make because they look complex, but they are made from very simple parts. I really wanted to let the shape be mostly defined by the lights, with just a little moonlight to provide fill.  It amuses me that the lights aren't modeled, at all, just clones of visible lights...the gag kind of falls apart in the close-ups, but it works well for the wider shots.

It's a super simple animation, but I like it.
