The De Stijl movement began in 1917 in Leiden city in south Holland, in Netherlands. It lasted until 1931 when pioneer, Piet Mondrian died. The movement was a reaction to the sadness that happened during World War1. The idea behind the De Stijl movement was to bring all together, the artists, designers, poets and others to create new abstract art styles that went beyond painting. The movement incorporate all types of art such as industrial design, architecture, furniture, music, digital design, poetry and typography.
