I attempted to combine Wes Anderson's style with a short background narrative of "Sam" making an arrow. Sam is my favorite character in Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. His meticulous antics and brute confidence were so amusing to me. But he was still thoughtful and reserved, choosing only to reveal himself to choice people. His making of an arrow and shot design were choreographed to see the world through his eyes. His actual process is indicative of his mannerisms and character, as well as his meticulous planning and attention to detail. As the main character, I thought it was important to introduce him to give context to the life of the boy behind the glasses. I actually took a lot of inspiration from the Dexter titles, as way to portray a character without direct shots of the face and through actions instead.

 

I really enjoyed shooting and editing this piece. Moonrise is one of my favorite Wes Anderson films, so I was excited to work on it. Enjoy!
