The brief was simple: show me summer.
The direction I took for this piece was based on the monotony of summertime, when the "Summer Blues" kick in. Going home for the summer means leaving the crazy life I have gotten used to at school and can result in a very mellow, even monotonous, break. I wanted to capture this attitude towards summer and have a melancholy tone that tries to represent summer in a different light than the common "free, sun-filled summer days."
The bubbles represent the stresses and feelings that I build up throughout the year and can finally be brushed off with the coming of the new "restful" season. However, even when I strip away form everything and isolate myself in total freedom, these bubbles still linger.
I enjoyed working on this process of cell animation and look forward to continuing to practice this technique.
