When I was growing up, one of my favorite treats was the prepared meals that my dad would make me. Almost every day I’d be presented a plate of fun objects, made of fruits, vegetables, rice, and sometimes meat. These lunches were inspired by the bento boxes of Japan, where my dad was once stationed. In Japanese culture, the sky is the limit on the creativity of these objects. Often times, the meals would follow a theme, enacting a fun scene made up of various layered veggies, meat and rice.

Today, my dad and I share an interest in eating healthy. We share an affinity for organic goods, and always try to work them into our meal plans.
Taking the joy that I still hold from these childhood memories, and my current food interests, my proposal is to produce and sell a line of prepared “Bento” meals, to be sold across the nation’s grocery chains. With the use of colorful and playful packaging, as well as the unique scenes made of fresh organic goods within, I hope to emphasize the importance of a healthy and balanced meal to today’s youth.
