The design of my bike lock was inspired by the carabiner clip. I thought that this would be a nice way of locking your bike as you'd be able to just push it onto the bike frame and wheel and the spring loaded arm much like a carabiner would spring back into place and therefore locking the bike.
I decided to go with a more triangular form, as it makes the lock look more rigid. The shape itself is also much more distinct and would be more iconic than simply using the form of a normal carabiner. This was a quick render done in Keyshot to show what materials and finishes I would consider for manufacture.
From the foam model, I gained a better idea what size it should be for it to work effiiciently. With this final appearance model, I used pine strips to create the frame and fixed the moving arm in with a dowel which allows it to move.
