weekend post 10/8/2022 : Going to a dance concert & attending VSU homecoming
So I'm back with another blog entry, and this time it is slightly different from what I've been posting lately (also side note, I know it's been a while but my computer was acting up, but it's now finally working!) But I wanted to bring you along with me on my weekend trip from DC to VA! In the first two photos you see I was at a dance recital at the Washington Dance theater. This show was about a young actress, performer and I would say renaissance woman Hazel Scott. She had many gifts and talents, and had a thriving career that was sadly cut short when she passed away from cancer. The performance paid homage to the young prodigy, with different forms of dance (more predominately classical, contemporary, and a little bit jazz). My favorite part was a solo one of the ballerina's performed, she was played Hazel Scott and the performance was beautiful. I tried to capture the moment but as you can see at the top it wasn't as successful, it still painted a pretty blurred aesthetic. Adding my major into these performances, the costumes for the tribute of Hazel Scott, from the performer herself and from the other dancers, you could see the quality of the costumes and the way it flowed when dancing in the pieces. It most definitely made the show better in my opinion. Overall I had a great time and would recommend going to their shows!
