Image Example.
This project demonstrates the power of storytelling.
It represents the relationship between a boy and his grandparents.
Through the use of vivid, lively stories, the boy came to see what Southern life was like during the '30s and '40s, and how his grandparents started a family that led to his existence.

I wanted to translate the personality of the words into a tangible object. The liveliness of each story can be found within the number of textural materials used to give the book its shape. The negative space of each page is made to contrast against all of the surrounding textures and put focus on the type and image.

Everything you see was made by hand...
Boards were sanded, leather was cut, nails were driven and ink was applied.
