The "title screen" of the film. I made the text difficult to read in an attempt to immerse the viewer in an unfamiliar culture, but the letters are still somewhat legible.
MEND is a 2D animated short film with a duration of 68 seconds. It was made during the fall semester of my junior year of college, with the goal being to create a full-color, high-quality, complete work in that time frame. This goal was realized, and the film was uploaded to YouTube on December 16th, 2022.
The storyboards used in the final version of the film. I used the boards to think through my backgrounds as much as possible and tried to focus on compelling compositions that would flow well between each other. Once they were completed, I made a color test using one of the boards as a framework.
With my colors established, I began work on an animatic and my backgrounds, as well as my sound design. For this, I recorded, edited, and arranged sounds in ways that could fit the film.
The backgrounds for this piece were made in Photoshop. Individual components of the environments were then exported and reassembled in After Effects.
