Various fabrics with free motion embroidery, dyed with natural turmeric and yellow onion skins. This window curtain was inspired by the golden sunlight of the evening shining through my ordinary window blinds. I wanted to capture that warm, speckled sunlight in a window treatment that lasts all day. Each of the different colors are different fabrics such as cotton, wool, or silk. These fibers each take the dye differently, some darker than others. After sewing the entire piece, it was dyed all at once, allowing the different fabrics to naturally create the gradient effect.
