Assignment: The objective of this project was to create a comprehensive program for a hypothetical exhibition at the SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) Museum of Art. The program would include identity, environmental, print, and package designs.
Concept: The topic of my imagined exhibition is the “Maker Movement.” The term describes the growing subculture of makers: DIY-loving self-starters combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology & engineering to create the objects of their dreams. Maker culture, though often engrossing, does not necessarily lend itself to isolation--it encourages us to make contact with the material and human world. In the spirit of the movement's love of community & interaction, I named the exhibition "CONTACT." I visually portrayed the concept of contact in a technological sense with the wires of the logotype and other graphic elements, contrasting the coldness of technology with the idea of closeness.
