The Masque of the Red DeathIt is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe.
The illustration was created from a passage from the tale for the Folio Society contest:
There was a sharp cry (...) instantly afterwards, fell prostrate in death the Prince Prospero.
The illustration unfortunately didn't win but the result yielded a quite decent book cover.
