In Praise of Flowers

IN PRAISE OF FLOWERS
In Praise of Flowers is a tribute to the last moments of life that cut
flowers offer us, by exploring their shapes, stories, and symbols.

Often seen as simple decorative items, flowers can appear insignificant and superficial.  However, beyond their mere appearance, their beauty takes root in multiple dimensions. Cultural symbolism, myths, legends and stories told over the centuries give flowers a poetic aura that goes beyond words. They accompany every moment of life, every event, and every ceremony, giving shape to emotions. Cut flowers instil joy, imprint memories and ironically die for our own happiness.

In Praise of Flowers is a research in nine chapters dedicated to nine different flowers: the Peony, an impressionist muse, the fragrant Lavender, the majestic Hydrangea, the Asian Orchid, the showstopper Lily, the delicate Tulip, the Narcissus and its reflection, the solemn Rose and the frail Baby's Breath.

Each chapter takes the form of an object, sometimes a vase, sometimes a simple stand, or an object of glorification. Nine creations, inspired by these flowers, their shape, their dimensions, their needs in these last moments, but also their history, their symbolism: the best way to pay homage and cultivate their memory.
