We were assigned with the task to create a nomad bluetooth speak for the company Braun. By understanding the brand, it’s design language and values, we were able to design a speaker that truly represents what Braun stands for.
Looking at Braun’s long standing values of Simplicity, Clarity, Functionality and Timelessness, we were inspired to create an experience that would change and evolve, yet remain that some thing you fell in love with.
Braun BPM - the speaker that allows you become your own DJ wherever you go.
By giving the user the ability to tweak and customize their music we thought such a dream could be made into reality. Make music which is always different, yet always the same; remove the expiry date on the sounds you love and keep them beating forever in your heart.
In addition to the original version, two premium versions were realized, using the traditional Braun aluminum. A rose-gold version and a natural, chromatic silver version.
These CMFs were intended to cater a more gentle and industrial taste and aesthetic respectively.
A companion app allows the user to mix and customize the Launchpad on the app and store the different versions of your favourite songs.
A compact design ideal to be brought around and become the beating heart of a party, the BPM was designed to stay in line with Braun’s design conventions.
It’s interface was developped on a grid using primitve shapes such as circles and rectangles, making each button as easy to understand as possible.
The various curves of the BPM were used to suggest the idea of movement and change cetral to the concept, while it’s visually soft exterior served to communicate a friendly and companion-like product.
