November 16, 1972 "BAD BLOOD”

November 16, 1972 "BAD BLOOD” is inspired by the Tuskegee Experiment and the harm it did to the black male from 1932 to 1972. During these 40 years, these men were subjected to arsenic therapy as a treatment. They were treated as a control group instead of patients. It was later determined that the doctors did harm their subjects by depriving them of the appropriate treatment. In fact, they were untreated and were used to benefit the government’s study of “Syphilis in the Negro Male”. The bacteria inspired prints, texture, and embroidery in this collection were inspired by the disease itself and its effects on the human body. Color inspiration derived from the essence of the 1970’s.
