This is Phoebe. She is seventeen and about 5’4”. Phoebe is a very intense person, who often lets her emotions get the best of her. She has a dry sense of humor and is known to have a short temper, which has caused her to not have many friends. She holds herself with artificial confidence, trying to display an image of strength and unfriendliness, so that she will be mostly left alone. Phoebe has few friends, only two of her softball teammates, who she is very protective of. Unfortunately, they are just as much outcasts as she is, her friend Ari getting the worst of it. Here are the various expressions Phoebe wears around Ari, the many glances she trades with any of the classmates that could dare to make fun of her friend in the past. She holds her softball bat in the same way she would give out a threat, letting her classmates know she will not hesitate in using it, if necessary. She discovered it is surprisingly easy to do so, as the mere thought of Ari getting hurt makes her angry enough she barely has to put up any act.
I used the angles and diagonals created by the softball bat to create interest and draw the audience’s eyes through the poses. I made her hair the only vibrant and saturated color so it, and her facial expressions, would stand out from her body and background. I also used sharp triangular shapes on her hair and face to make her seem more sharp and aggressive.
