Hybrid working environment for BDO Accountants | Rotterdam
With the experience of innovative and flexible working, M+R has designed a hybrid working environment for the new offices of BDO Rotterdam in the building First.

The innovative office in Rotterdam offers space for meeting, working together, sharing knowledge etc. on a total of 3 floors of office space: the 9th, 10th and 11th floors. There are many facilities for the Lines of Services of BDO such as scrum, presentation and meeting rooms. Various workplace concepts can be reserved by employees through a BDO app and are in line with BDO's vision that people can work in the office, at the client's location or from home.

The 10th floor functions as a reception floor, here are the reception desk and a coffee bar with a "barista", various seating areas where people can work and meet in an informal atmosphere. This floor is connected to a newly designed and realized voids with stairs that connect the three floors. This floor also houses the meeting center and a large flexible scrum and relaxation area. In addition to these facilities, a "mind & innovation" space has been realized;
After all, it is noticeable to everyone that our lives are changing.
For example, the dividing line between work and private life is becoming increasingly blurred, we work from home and if we want to we are connected to the whole world 24 hours a day. It is therefore important for each individual to make a careful arrangement of their day, where there is room for rest, relaxation and exertion. This awareness requires companies to think about the content of the work environment. For BDO's new location there are various places that offer space for this awareness, a good example is the 'mind & innovation' room with quiet areas and opportunities to meditate.

On the two 'work' floors, a central living room is situated with a large pantry, great coffee and tea, several seating areas, various workstations and lots of greenery. The number and type of workstations were carefully determined in co-creation sessions with the employees so that they are optimally suited to the way of working, with a clear focus on collaboration and social cohesion of the various lines of services within the BDO organization. There are also concentration workstations and quiet rooms, although fewer in number because concentrated work can also be carried out from the home workplace. The look & feel and wayfinding of this location is in keeping with BDO's field of operations, the largest port in Europe. The quiet rooms and compartment areas are designed like sea containers in a special brass color. For the meeting and conference rooms, special walls and floor covering designs of prominent places and buildings in Rotterdam have been designed. The entire color palette varies per floor and is in line with the corporate identity of the company.
