Moon-viewing party(OTSUKIMI)
Otsukimi is a Japanese cultural tradition of viewing the beautiful autumn moon. People prepare silver grass and offerings to pray for happiness and good health for the year ahead.
A raw egg dropped into hot kakesoba (buckwheat noodles) is called "tsukimi soba" (moon-viewing soba), as the yolk of the egg is likened to the moon in the night sky.
This illustration depicts "Tsukimi Tororo Soba" with grated yam and grated yam added to make it look like a cloud.
