My Bauhaus Pattern - Lars Smith - Somnium Pattern

This is my Bauhaus-inspired pattern, created for my digital media class.
During the process of creating this project we researched the Bauhaus period of art (1919-1933), and the interesting school behind the movement.

During my research I became interested in the work of Wassily Kandinsky, who created abstract designs using weight, line, shape, and color. I researched more of his designs, and other themes of the Bauhaus period, creating a mood board/color palette to create my new pattern. I additionally looked at furniture from the early 50s for inspiration, Which often followed these odd design trends. Along the way I also gathered some inspiration for a new game I had been creating, set in the 50s.
After creating my collage, I came up with a few thumbnails. I compared them to other Bauhaus artist's work, and decided to go with my second idea. Here are some examples of my pattern on different products below. (It isn't my best.)
The dominant art elements in my work negative space and color. I used odd shapes which look like circles and create different shaped when used in tandem. The shapes have many different colors, and I gave the pattern movement using specific placement. The colors reflect some which I'd seen in early 50s design, such as bright pops of yellow and red with a few greenish colors and warm-tone blues. Thought the hues are very different, the values remain similar and they are all warm-ish tones, tying them all together in one cohesive work.
