Palm Oil = Deforestation

Palm Oil = Deforestation
The theme of my project is the relationship between palm oil and deforestation. The production of palm oil is the reason for palm tree plantations. Palm oil is in many kinds of food like cake mix, Oreos, candy bars, processed foods, soaps, shampoos, cereals, granola bars, etc. The oil doesn't harm a person; it's just how they produce it. For years the protected lands in Indonesia have been taken over by palm oil plantations. Doing this decreases the rainforest's hectares, thereby leaving many animals without homes. Some foundations protect these animals, like orangutans and elephants, but it's not enough. People need to be aware of what's happening and take action where they can.
The images in the shapes of hands represent what humans bring to the initial background.

Creation to Plantation... Destruction caused by humans.
The hands represent the humans introducing palm oil plantations to the natural environment of Indonesia. The animals roam free in creation.
Plantation to Deforestation... Palm fruit takes the place of wildlife
The hands represent deforestation. The animals are within the palm fruit because the palm fruit's production leads to the animals' confinement. As the plantations grow, the animals have limited options on where they can live their life.
Deforestation to Flames... Fire burns out endangered species.
The hands represent the humans bringing fire to the land that still smolders underneath the ground. The fires may seem gone, but as plantations expand to peatlands, the fires smolder long after the trees have been cut down and burned. The extinction of animals follows.
