“Come on, Litz, let’s go! It’s late already,” my mother yelled as she opened the door. I ran downstairs and reached the door on time before it close. “Whoa! I am sure getting scold by Mr Jackman this time. He always want to get dig a mistake from me and now he will get a chance to do so,” I said after catching my breath. My mother laughed a little as she drove me to school. The journey is just a few blocks of houses away from my house. It took about 15 min to reach school. I got out the car as fast as possible as soon as I reach the school gate without looking back. My only thinking now is to get to class as soon as possible. The car door was slammed hard behind but I didn’t care much as I have a bigger problem now. 

When I reach the front class door, with a deep breath, I opened and step in. At the very moment, I can feel every single eye in the class staring at me. “Well, well, well, it’s Ms. Johanson. You better have a good explanation this time.” Mr Jackman said with a wicked smile on his lips. With the eyes on the floor, I walked all the way to an empty seat beside Nick, the most handsome guy in the class(I think). Nick has this blue liquid eyes and has a tall slim figure that suits him perfectly. Nick greeted me with ‘Hi’ as I sat down beside him. I tried to act cool and greeted back at him while busy taking books out of my bag. 

After class, Mr Jackman caught sight of me and tell me to meet him in his office after the end of school. I walked all the way to my locker with a bad mood. Suddenly, there is an arm wrapped around my shoulder. When I turned around, I’m glad to see that it was my best friend, Jasmine, a pretty girl who has been my best friend since childhood. "So, why does Mr Jackman scold you this time, Litz?” I glared at Jasmine wondering how she know about it. “ Oh,…c’mon, who doesn’t know that you’re Mr Jackman ‘favourite’ student,” said Jasmine. 

I give her another glare as she laughed at her own joke. “Yeah, right,” I said. “This time I woke up late again and enter late to his class,” I said with a disappointing tone. Together, we walked all the way to the next class. 

On our way there, I caught a sight of an unfamiliar face sitting on the bench outside all by himself. I asked Jasmine about the mysterious looking guy as she knew almost all the people in this school. She told me that he is a new student and is not popular so, he was always alone. I stared at him a while and he caught me staring. I turned my eyes to look at other places but still thinking about the guy in my head. “He seems somewhat familiar but I can’t remember at the moment”. 

When the school hours finally end, I went to Mr Jackman’s office to meet him up. He offered me a seat as I entered his office. “I hope this will be the last time you’re late to my class anymore. One more time and you are going straight to the principal. Am I making myself clear, Ms Johanson? Mr Jackman scolded with a loud tone. ‘Yes’ was the only answer that I could managed to say. I stand and make myself towards the door before he had the chance to scold me again. I close the door behind me and let out a sigh. As I turned around, I was happy to find my best friend leaning against the wall waiting for me. I just smiled at her. 

“That’s what a best friend is for,” she said with a cool tone in her voice.
