Adobe Illustrator Custom Brushes:
Individual Sovereignty ✌️
What happens when you combine brushes with text in Adobe Illustrator? The unique potential to create custom pattern brushes that generate infinite loops of grammar.
I decided to explore this a bit by creating some custom pattern brushes around the theme of individual sovereignty -- generating the following recursive phrases:
- "You Are You"
- "You Own You"
- "You Are You Own You"
Creating Base Brush Components
Starting with 210 Hayanbaram as a typeface, I typed out the text that I wanted to have repeat continuously...
... And then converted it to outlines.
From there, the process is as straightforward as selecting the outlined text, creating a new Pattern Brush, and tweaking a few of the configuration settings for Scale, Spacing, Fit, Colorization, etc.
Applying The Pattern
With the brush created, the possibilities are now endless for integrating it with shapes, patterns, blends, graphics and more.
