Home made red packet that I made for my parents during Chinese new year. I wanted to incorporate the old Japanese illustration style with the calligraphy of Chinese verses as part of the design. Drawn with a calligraphy brush pen and gold marker.
Top verse - May your blessings be as vast as the eastern seas, longevity as the unaging southern mountains.
Bottom verse - Prosperity arrives as the bird of prosperity chirps, Fortune arrives as the flower of fortune blooms
Took around 2hrs to try out the style and calligraphy strokes, cut the paper and complete the final illustration.
