The Church and Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán
In The Guelaguetza, you live culture and traditions to the fullest, and they share the best of Oaxaca with Mexico and the world.
Tourists waiting for the parade of the eight regions of Oaxaca.
This year I had the opportunity to go to the Guelaguetza, which represents magic, culture, and tradition.
The interior and the gold-plated altar of the church of the convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán.
On Saturday, there is a parade of Delegations of the Guelaguetza, representing the eight regions participating with dances in the Guelaguetza on Monday.

The Central Valleys.
The Sierra Juárez (North).
La Cañada, Tuxtepec.
La Mixteca.
La Costa.
La Sierra Sur.
 and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
The parade goes thru several streets in the center of the city of Oaxaca; Crowds of people surround the sides of the road where the contingent will pass.

They assemble up to 3 hours before to have the best view of the show.
The name comes from the Zapotec "Guemdalezaa" and means "present offering, fulfillment." Its origin is from the time of the Mexica, an event in honor of the goddess of corn.
But the Guelaguetza is known as suchlike dates back to 1932.

90 years ago, on the celebration 400th anniversary of having been honored with the title of city by King Carlos V.

The celebration takes place on Mondays. It is also known as "Mondays of the Hill Festival."
