KAINAYAHAN
Marine Ecotourism Resort and Underwater Museum Exhibiting Aquatic Wildlife and Amenities for Learning Pelagic Natural Habitat and increase Indigenous Cultural Awareness

KAINAYAHAN is an underwater marine museum with a land-base resort that promotes the life, culture, and, tradition of the Tagbanua tribe located in the Central area of Palawan where most of the Tagbanua people can be found. The Aborlan, Palawan was notable for its Seven-line Coral Reefs with an impressive Marine Protected Area which stimulates the idea of the general concept of the project. Integrating the culture of the Tribe with facilities that cater to the enrichment of their history through Cultural Park, Convention Center, Learning Hub, Basketry making and, Underwater marine museum. The designers incorporated the Coral Reefs as the Design Concept of the resort which symbolizes growth, life, diversity and, home for Marine animals. By providing a connection to a building above the land and structure underwater, it aims to bring the tourists an innovative dimension of Filipino Architecture where they can experience a high-quality service and provide a nostalgic ambiance in every suite. Structures with multiple openings are adaptive to compliment the environment and rekindle Filipino Architecture providing energy conservation and self-sufficient design to aid our environment towards climate action. Like the Coral Reefs, it needs species to stay alive and to create life, the project aims to provide livelihood and raised awareness about Tagbanuan Tribe and the life beyond the water to combat the relentless negative impact of human activity on marine habitat. Jointly with the marine life in Palawan and the tradition of the Tagbanua Tribe will stay alive and never forgotten.

The Site
The chosen site for our project proposal is in Apurawan, Aborlan, Palawan where 2.15 % or over 16000 of its population identified themselves as Tagbanua. Aborlan, Palawan is also known for its 7-line coral reefs, which signifies the richness of its biodiversity. This is also the main reason why coral was incorporated as the resort’s design concept. It symbolizes growth, life, diversity, and a home for many. Like the coral reefs, it needs other species to stay alive and to create life, just like how the project aims to provide livelihood and promote awareness to ensure that the marine life in Palawan and the culture and tradition of Tagbanua people will stay alive and flourish together with the progression of time.

In Kainayahan, we let you imagine life underwater in a place where nature begins and never ends.
