Some work that was completed during my time at Marshall University

This is a self portrait poster done in the style of illustrator Michael Schwab. The process started with a drawing made from a photograph, which was then illustrated and colored digitally.

This is a magazine ad for Toms shoes. The imagery of the piece is designed to promote an emotional response. The row of shoes demonstrates the product itself so the audience understands what the ad is for while seeing the photograph and relating the two. The copy is brief and the line is meant to show how the product serves a purpose outside of fashion. The target of this ad would be males/females ages 16-25.

This is a logo that I designed for Recfest 2011, an annual recreational festival held at Marshall University's Recreation Center. Recfest is a free event which includes various activities for kids, teens, adults, and incoming students. Local business are also present to show what they have to offer to students and the general public. The tone of the logo is a fun, exciting, and inviting event for all ages.

This is a book cover I did as part of my coursework. The cover is based upon a hiking trip I took to the Grand Canyon and the title came from an event that occurred during the trip. A good friend of mine proposed to his girlfriend, now wife, after hiking a 26 mile trail together into and out of the canyon. The hike took a toll on the entire group who participated due to the extreme conditions and terrain, but there was still "love" in the "nasty" where my best friend was engaged.

This is a flyer I designed during my internship at Boyd County Public Library in Ashland, KY. The flyer is self explanatory and was designed to advertise a back-to-back-to-back triple feature of all 3 Pirates of the Caribbean at the library's main branch. The flyers were distributed to all 3 branches of the Library and local patrons. Designed with Quark Xpress.

This is also a flyer I designed during my internship at Boyd County Public Library. It is for an annual summer program in which movies are shown at the end of each month in the local park. It was also distributed to all branches of the Library for general public and patrons. Designed using Quark Xpress.
